Registration for the International Scientific Physics Olympiad is open
Teams from different countries are invited to participate in the International Scientific Physics Olympiad (ISPhO), which will be held from July 3 to July 11, 2024 in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia). The event is organized by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) with the support of the Government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra.
The Olympiad consists of theoretical and experimental parts. Problems can be proposed as part of the topic list (http://asianphysicsolympiad.org/syllabus.html) used in the Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO). The working language of the Olympiad is English. The tasks of the Olympiad are preliminarily discussed and translated into national languages.
A few weeks before the Olympiad, a scientific festival will be held in a remote format, at which review lectures on a number of important areas and information necessary to solve problems will be given.
During the Olympiad, in-person participation is encouraged as much as possible. If it is not possible to participate in person, you must send a corresponding email to ispho@phystech.edu with a request to organize remote participation of the team.
Each participating country may send a delegation consisting of a school students’ team of up to 5 participants (competitors) and 2 accompanying persons (heads of delegation). School students, as well as school graduates who have not yet started studying at the university or were enrolled at the university no earlier than July 1, 2024 can participate in the Olympiad. Contestants must not be over twenty years of age as of July 31, 2024. Heads of delegations must be specialists in the field of Physics, capable of solving the problems of the Olympiad, and also have sufficient knowledge of the English language to read texts and communicate. Delegations may be accompanied by observers and guests. Observers may attend all meetings of the Olympiad, including meetings of the heads of delegations, but cannot vote or take part in discussions. Guests are not present at meetings of the heads of delegations.
Registration of individual participants is allowed for those countries that face difficulties in participating in the Olympiad. Individual participants compete under the flag of their country and can take part in the Olympiad in person (adult participants can come alone, minors with an accompanying person, the total number of accompanying persons should not exceed 2 for each country).
The organizers provide accommodation, meals, excursions and various entertainment activities for Olympiad participants. Transport costs are paid by the participants themselves.
